The sheds first workshop is now functioning with all floor and walling completed. The guys have been building benches ‘for England’ and we now have a decent range of fixed power tools in place.
All the electrical circuit is finished and tested (many thanks to Pete Beeby) and most of the lighting is fitted (thanks to Cyril Jones)
We continue to receive much needed and appreciated funding, with thanks to The National Lottery, Aviva Insurance, Masonic Lodge, Chosen Charity Shop, South Holland District Council.
One enjoyable activity was a group trip to the Newark National Woodworking Show. Great day out and very useful when it came to deciding what tooling we might like (as against what we could afford).
Many of the guys very busy, particularly making items that we can sell. Bird boxes, tables, planters and garden chairs very popular
Other projects include repairs and service to a ride-on tractor for a local community group.
Setting up a regular market stall, once a month, to display and sell our products as well as promoting the ‘shed’
Or you can visit the Shed during opening times and view the range of items currently available.
We are building a mobile refreshments bar in the form of a traditional ‘shepherds hut’.
It’s a big project and we’ll post pictures of its progress towards completion.
Membership today is growing rapidly and we are working towards creating further workshop space and diversifying the available activities. So, if anybody is interested they should pop along, have a cuppa and check it out.
